    Typhoid Fever

    Typhoid Fever is transmitted through the ingestion of contaminated food or water and it is caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi. Typhoid can cause high fever, weakness, stomach pains and loss of appetite. The inactivated typhoid vaccine should be give 2 weeks before travel. A booster dose is needed every 2 years for people that remain at risk. The oral live typhoid vaccine is 4 doses, given 2 day apart.
